[ She leans forward, reaching out to try and touch the battery as well, if only to see if she can feel anything. She's not an expert, after all. Just an amateur, at best. ]
[ Saber accepts the hand-off and begins trying to drain the magic away again.
There's a flicker; something that flashes between them. A battlefield filled with dead and wounded knights and a lancing pain in one's side; another figure in armor stands before her and crumples-
[ It's the kind of image that could be lifted from numerous places in Tierra's history, but isn't. Warfare never stops, no matter which universe, it seems. ]
Strange— [ The battery, but more importantly. ] ... Did you see that?
[ As far as details go, it's hard to pick out too much in the brief second it flashed before his eyes, but Steak tries, hmming quietly as he pulls up details. ]
Someone in armour was killed. [ It's more the glint of the metal he remembers, rather than any details of their face, their identity. But there's one thing he can recall, nothing visual, but just... striking. ] ... And pain, in my side.
[ Saber seems to withdraw a little into herself. That sounds strikingly familiar. She glances down at her hands and then quietly folds them in front of her. ]
I believe I know of what you speak.
[ She doesn't really want to talk about it, honestly. ]
[ Steak is not the best person from whom to expect tact, ever so blunt and heavy that he has a list of people back on Tierra who bare grudges towards his tactless responses.
But he also has a few things in his past which he would rather keep private, and what interests him more than the results of a war is just what kind of nonsense this place is sparking with their battery-sharing plan. ]
Why would I see that...?
[ He stares at the battery, teeth worrying his lower lip in thought. ]
[ Magic here is ridiculous, Steak thinks. Every time he thinks he understands it, something like this happens and reminds him that Aefenglom is just a series of ridiculous coincidences. ]
We shouldn't keep playing with something like this.
[ It seems like a recipe for disaster, if you ask him. ]
[ Although Steak can't think of much in his past he would hate to be revealed to a relative stranger, he's quite glad to know they're in agreement on this. ]
We should give this back.
[ What kind of exercise is this meant to be? He's quite happy to relinquish the item to its owners. ]

Are we doing this incorrectly?

[ He really should have paid more attention to the Coven's talk when he first arrived. So, instead, Steak hands it over. ]
You try.

A battle of some sort. [ Hm. ] None I recognise.
[ Though the flashes were brief and blurred, there's a significant sensation of unfamiliarity in his chest. It's nowhere on Tierra, says his gut. ]

Perhaps it is causing some sort of reaction. Or transfer of something besides mana.
